Piano
To all the readers who sent me a private message or a comment lately and were concerned about me, a huge thank you.
Last August, one of the Cottage's cat, the oldest, Piano, died.
He was part of the blog as during his last year he never left Cottage and then during the last month he never left me. So he was on many pictures.
I had a feeling (it might be irational, I don't know) that I had to write about his passing on the blog if I wanted to keep blogging and at the same time I really didn't want to write that post.
So I'm going to keep it simple. Cottage was the safe haven Piano had chosen to live his last years after a probably very adventurous (given his scars) and very lonely life. I feel blessed that he managed to trust me.
Cottage, the other cats - who respected him as the "chief" even if they didn't like him - and I will cherish the memories of Piano.
It's always hard to lose a member of the family and that's what they are, not just a pet. My condolences.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words.
DeleteSo sorry to hear about this. It's very hard to lose a pet. We lost one last year and I was so incredibly sad. We must be thankful for the lovely days we had with them.
ReplyDeleteI do feel blessed that Piano came to Cottage to spend his last years...
DeleteI'm so sorry, Magali. You and Piano were lucky to have each other. xo
ReplyDeleteI do feel lucky that I could share some of my life with him...
DeleteAnd here's another "I am so sorry". Those are happy times we spend with pets who bring out the kid in us and create a diversion in our daily routines! Glad you gave me a happy place for us long!
ReplyDeleteOh, Piano did make me laugh!
DeleteSo sorry to hear about your loss. It is hard to lose a pet, as they become a part of our lives. So glad you were able to give him a happy home.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jocelyn. Piano did have a loving home for his last years.
Cela me réconforte.
ReplyDeleteMille bisous. Babette
What a blessing his trust in you was - for him and for you. You will now be blessed by the sweet memories and all those
ReplyDeletepictures. Warmest condolences.
The trust of Piano, a very shy cat who trusted no other human, for me was something that amazed all my neighbours. Thanks for your kind words.
DeleteAS soon as I seen the title I didn't want to read it =.^(
ReplyDeleteI so sorry for your loss....it's always a different kind of Love we have for a pet who chose us, you do have a wonderful archive of his time with you thru the blog, as the days go by you'll look back with fond memories of the time he was with you.
I have been thinking of you, Magali. I know how hard losing a beloved member of your family can be. No matter if they are human or not, they leave a heartbreak behind. Piano was lucky to have found you and Cottage💓
ReplyDeleteI believe I also was lucky to find Piano... The way he looked at me was so rewarding... Thanks for writing me this kind message.
DeleteI'm so glad Piano found a safe place for the final part of his life. Thank you for blessing him with this gift and allowing him in. My thoughts are with you and the other cats as you mourn him.
ReplyDeleteI felt blessed that Piano allowed me to spend some time with me as he was afraid of all the other humans, probably because he first owners weren't good enough for him to learn trust. Thanks for your kind words.
DeleteHi Magali,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that you have lost this precious love in your life. Piano had a wonderful life with you. You gave him love and a wonderful safe haven to live. He has crossed over the rainbow bridge and will be waiting for you and all the other cats someday in the future. I believe you will be reunited again. In the meantime I feel for your broken heart. When I lost our beloved Cooper there were days I could barely breath I missed him so much. So I understand and only wish you love and hugs as you have to grieve. Death is part of life but I think the hardest thing we ever have to face in life. I am so sorry Magali. I wish I lived closer to come by and give you a real hug. Time does not take the loss and pain away but from my own experience losing Cooper it does have a way of making it more tolerable. I wish that for you. For now while the pain is so real and painful I only wish you peace as you try to navigate your grief. So sorry. Sorry is not enough but it is a start. All of us in blog land will keep you in our hearts and prayers as you begin this journey of grief.
Hugs,
Kris
Sorry you hd to say goodbye to your kitty, Piano. The kitty with much catitude. May he always have a special place in your heart. Sorry for his passing, thank goodness he found you.
ReplyDeleteI think we were both lucky to find each others. Thank you so much for your kind words.
DeleteI'm so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had a cat for years, but we recently stayed at another house while our only bathroom was remodeled. Sweet Pea, the house cat, was so adorable and sweet. I actually miss her now that we're home.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Will miss this beauty, Piano and know you are too, thinking of you, here if needed. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! It's somehow amazing to see all the messages I got for Piano who had been a very unloved cat during the first part of his life... I feel like he deserves all those kind words...
DeleteAll the animals I have owned, and that is a lot in 66 years of life, were like children to me, such dear and loving companions. They fill spaces in our heart and give so much that we often are not aware of until they are gone. It is so wonderful that Piano found love and care and contentment in the latter years of life. You gave to him as well as he did to you. Maybe one day you can give love to another needful feline.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your family member Piano. These creatures become part of our lives and part of our hearts. They become like our children and when they move on to their next lives, it hurts deeply! I've never had cats since I have an allergy of them. My dogs are my kids and I love them as such and when they are no longer with me, I grieve. Sometimes for a long time. It does get better but there will always be a little place in your heart where they live on.
ReplyDeleteHi Magali: I am so sorry for your loss. It is very difficult to lose a pet who is cherished and is a wonderful member of the family.
ReplyDeleteSending you lots of love from the United States.

I understand why you didn't want to write this post. Piano had a safe haven with you and Mr.Cottage. He was one feisty cat. Bless you in this sad and grieving time. Hugs, Kathleen in Az

ReplyDeletehug for you...
ReplyDeleteI am really sorry to hear about Piano, Magali, and also sorry I haven't popped in to say 'hello' for awhile. I think you did the right think blogging about your loss - I can imagine what a gap Piano leaves, but it is also a privilege that we are able to share our lives with certain souls; and he wouldn't want you feeling too sad...
ReplyDeleteOh I am so sorry for you loss of your little buddy Piano. I always enjoyed hearing everything you mentioned about him not to mention the photos. It is always so hard to say goodbyes to our litttle friends. They are such sweet company and I can only imagine how much you miss him. I remember back when I lost my sweet Bentley (springer spaniel) who was always with me for fourteen years. I know you have many sweet memories that will make you smile. Hugs dear Magali.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, Magali, it's so terrible to say goodbye to one of our furry babies. xo

Dear Magali,
ReplyDeleteOur pets are so hard to say good bye to at the end of their lives! These little adopted creatures add so much comfort to our life everyday. They have real emotions, just like us; and physical pain which some people don't always see the need to address...especially for the lost or abandoned. I'm so glad you had a kind and open heart to nurture and love this little guy through his last days. How grateful he must have felt to be safe in cottage with you and his other furry friends. Piano will forever be a testament to your loving and giving nature. Hope to see more of cottage and what he's been up to! Au revoir! Nonni
The way Piano looked at me was just the perfect reward for me... It was worth all the time I spent with him at the end. Thanks for your message.
DeleteThank you for letting him stay with you and the other cats. I am sorry he has gone. Cats have such big personalities for such small creatures, they leave a hole in our life.
ReplyDeleteThe last year, Piano took a lot of space and time: he was there with me all the time, following me around, waiting for me to come back home whenever I left, so his passing leaves a huge hole... Thanks for taking the time to write a kind message.
DeleteI am sorry my friend!AriadnefromGreece!
ReplyDeleteMagali: I am so sorry for your loss. Little lives can have such a large impact on our lives.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jo Ann... Piano lost a lot of weight at the end of his life and the thinner he became, the heavier I felt...
DeleteOh no, Magali! I know the pain of losing a beloved pet. A big hug.

I am so sorry to hear about Piano. Losing a pet is painful, but you will always have the memories. I hope that the other cats are consoling you.
ReplyDeleteit can be sad to loose a beloved pet - it takes awhile to get used to. I am just now catching up on blogs today while I have internet - we have been traveling and do not have internet to catch up on blogs when I wish to - but today is a rainy day so that is what I am doing this morning. Hope to see you blogging on a regular basis again soon.
ReplyDeleteMagali, I am so very sorry to read about Piano. I know that pain all too well - our pets are truly members of the family. Sending you a big hug across the ocean.
