A Gift From A Reader (Ain't I Lucky?)
Every now and then I buy something from the Internet and I do a happy dance when I find my order in my letter box.
Every now and then I find something I like on my favourite second-hand site, I contact the seller, I send my check and my address and I do a happy dance when I see my amazing find in my letter box.
Every now and then I'm not expecting anything and I do a happy dance when I open my letter box and find, instead of the usual bills, I find a box sent by one of my readers.
And then, a few days ago, a few weeks ago, ok, a few months ago (I'm a little late to write this post, because I didn't know how to make it inetresting at first), it was like an early Christmas. Three boxes (and three cats - but that's usual) were waiting for me to come home from work.
Two of those boxes were books I had ordered (one box of new books and one box of second-hand books) and from the third came a wonderful lavender scent, even when the box was still closed!
It was sent to me by Monique a regular reader who lives in Northern France. She brought back some lavender from her mother's garden in Corsica , she made those adorable pyramid shaped sachets and she gifted me many of them!
My first idea was "how sweet!" Then, I began wondering if maybe I was way too naive. Where do you usually use lavender sachets? In your kitchen? Not really! In your dining-room? Not really! In the bathroom that I don't want to show you or in the bedroom that is supposed to be a secret for now? Yes!
So, maybe, just maybe, Monique is actually trying to make me show more of those rooms that are only at stage 1 of their transformation.
I should be mad because I really don't like it when my blog writing - or my showing of Cottage - doesn't go as planned (I'm a control freak, like the biggest control freak ever). But Monique is so nice and I love my lavender sachets so much, that I decided to throw caution to the wind. Ready?
So here's my bathroom - in the making - reveal...
Voici ma salle de bain !
Please admire my vintage bathroom storage. What? You can't see it very well?
And my bedroom -also in the making - reveal...
Et maintenant, la chambre !
Not bad, this old chest? It seems I'm not very good at centring my pictures today...
Pas mal, ma commode, hein?
I know, I know, I'm evil... And I don't even deserve to have such nice readers.
To make up for it, I'll try to reveal something - a real reveal, this time - later that month.
The Breton sky gives you this wonderful sun rising.
See you soon,
A bientôt,
PS1: I'm very late for my Christmas decorating, as in... I've bought in the "whore costumes aisle" of the local costume store the things I wanted for my wreath project... And haven't actually completed the project (which is an easy peasy one... Just need to find an ounce of energy). I do hope this little teaser hasn't scared you... I swear the project itself is very innocent.
PS2: Monique, those lavender sachets make me smile every time I open my cupboard or my drawers. A huge thank you.
Magali's evil twin is teasing us again! I thought for sure we would get a slightly larger peek at the bath or bedroom. Love the shape of the sachet - much more practical than flat ones. I cannot wait to see what a wreath made from items form the "whore" aisle at a costume shop will look like.
ReplyDeleteLOL those are the funniest photos I've seen in a long time!
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that when I look at those sachets, I see them animated, like they're about to walk around your house! Anyway, they're cute, especially in the group photo, where they're about to dance off the table. Nice stone wall, by the way!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend, Magali!
You are such a tease, Magali, but your little sachets are so sweet and your sunrise is wonderful! Wishing you a lovely weekend! x Karen
ReplyDeleteSorry about the tease, it HAD to be done!
DeleteOh, what darling sachets! They are perfect for tucking into little places around the home :)
ReplyDeleteYour friend is indeed kind and what a joy to receive such a lovely gift. Love and hugs to you, Magali!
They are cute little sachets, and I love their whimsical shape. Cute post. Those first four lines let me practice my French, which is not good at all. I do so much better with Spanish. xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have mail that isnt bills! The sachets are so pretty and will look lovely around the non existent bedroom!
ReplyDeleteThose are the cutest little sachets I've ever seen....little triangles! It's really the little things that make me happy and to find a cute thing like this in a draw could put a smile on my face! I hope you are enjoying some rest and relaxation, Magali! We get two weeks off for Christmas starting 18 décembre, so I am really excited about that! Wishing you happiness and FUN!
Tu m'as fait rire.
Nathalie

DeleteHow sweet! I rarely receive anything in the mail, but it is nice when it happens. The cats love it too because it means boxes to play in.
ReplyDeleteHi Magali,
ReplyDeleteI know your bedroom and bathroom will be fabulous. What a sweet gift you got in the mail. Blogger friends are the best.
Have a wonderful week end.
Kris
Cute story magali, and the sachets are adorable and very thoughtful of your sweet friend. It's always fun to receive goodies in the mail, whether or not they're expected (but surprised are always nicer).
ReplyDeletehaha you're such a brat! What a lovely gesture and how nice to have fresh lavender to scent your bedroom and bathroom. Waiting for those reveals!!! Happy Saturday Magali!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all cheers to Monique for getting us a wee peek at your bedroom....I use the words wee peek loosely! And Monique they are just lovely!! Second of all, the whore costume isle???? This should be interesting. Only you could make something so risque be innocent. I use the term innocent loosely too......haha Cheers Magali
ReplyDeleteMmmmm lavender from Corsica, heavenly! I'm thinking the wreath will be a flashy sort;) I'll be patiently waiting for your reveals and loving the header too, Kathleen in Az
Bisous bisous. Babette
What an evil blogger you are!! You tease us with these lovely sachets....and then you show us NOTHING of your rooms - meanie!! :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what on earth you are making for the holidays from the whore aisle....my interest is piqued for sure!
You are a lucky girl. Monique has made such pretties for you. Could you send some of that smell my way? Can't wait to see more of the cottage, you tease!
So, what you are saying is, we need to send much larger presents to earn a peek at your latest endeavors . Always looking forward to your updates😊
ReplyDeleteFinally, someone who understand what I was trying to say ;)
DeleteDefinitely a sweet gift. I am trying to look behind my computer to see the rest of your bathroom and bedroom, but they aren't there. SIGH!!! xo Laura
ReplyDeleteSurprise unexpected gifts are the best. I bet they smell heavenly!
ReplyDeleteBises.
Caroline

I bet they smell divine! Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteHi Magila, I'll bet that box smelled like heaven when you opened it. I'm not sure what heaven smells like but it has to be great. Right? lol I just love blogging friends. Have a wonderful holiday season. Jo
ReplyDeleteAren't those pattern weights and not just sachets? Great idea either way. Pattern weights by day, sachets by night!
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Jamie
Well, all I can say is that they are as light as a feather!
Magali
What a thoughtful and wonderful smelling gift! I don't think any one else mentioned this...but, these little sachets are so good to put in your shoes to keep them smelling nice. Lavender has anti-bacterial properties that help to kill bacteria. And when you live in a damp climate you need all the good smelling help you can get!!! Best ~ Mickie.
ReplyDeleteLOL, you are a teaser……but it's ok Magali. We know and understand not being ready to reveal and wait to see those room transformations. Sweet lavender sachets from a thoughtful friend. You are not alone in the decorating, late getting it done here.
ReplyDeleteHope you are well and cottage is looking all festive for Christmas.
Have a great week.
I have forgiven you for all the teasing because you have gifted us that amazing sunrise picture! I love the smell of lavender...just bought a bunch of things with lavender scent, and I can't get enough of it! Enjoy your gift from your friend!
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed with your bathroom and bedroom, Magali! (wink, wink) I've gotten used to waiting for your reveals, and they're always worth the wait. Plus, I totally get it, as I do the same thing. Lavender is wonderful. I planted some this year and it did really well. I'm hoping it survives the winter and grows even more in the summer. Enjoy you lovely sachets.
