Some Bunnies Settled At Cottage
I shouldn't be blogging today. No, no. The plan was to weed the "potager". Of course, I also had a plan B which was to paint a secret project that I was hoping to finish this weekend.
But I had to come up with a plan C because I hurt my back, or rather my side, badly and after a week of denying the pain and of keeping my business as usual - weeding, sanding, cooking, hanging the laundry - I woke this morning wondering if I would even be able to reach the loo... So I'm taking it slow today, hoping it'll help to ease the pain away.
I don't decorate for Easter. But last week, I had a little eighteen month old boy visiting for a few days. He loved switching every table lamp on, as you can see on the picture... And we don't have any shortage of table lamps at Cottage, so this game could last for a long time!
Anyway, before he arrived, I decorated Cottage a little differently than usual. All my glass bottles went on top of the bookshelf as it would have been dangerous had he broken one.
I chose unbreakable items for the sofa, the coffee table (what? did I say coffee table?) and the side tables (whaaaat??? What side tables???) and got all my Beatrix Potter collection out for the hutch that can be closed. Just because I can't imagine anything better than the stories of Peter Rabbit and his furry friends for a child.
Because of the season and what I saw on blogs and in shops, I was also inspired to take some bunny items out of their box!
So, here it is, later than everybody, my small bunny decor for 2017!
See you soon,
A bientôt,
Hasta la proxima,
PS1: It's been a grey day, so pictures don't have the best light. I know that the one of the Peter Rabbit mug isn't straight... But I can't stand straight with the pain so, the picture seems straight to me!
PS2: Who wants to do nothing and watch an episode of Peter Rabbit with me ? If you've never seen them before, please take the time, it's wonderful!
How lovely to have Beatrix Potter in your home. I grew up with the stories and still have my very old books. I'm sorry you are in pain, you may need to rest (and not teach?) Your bunny decor looks so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky (or not) to be in holidays, so I can rest... But I'm to go back at school on Monday!
DeleteHappy Easter days and Spring! Take good care of yourself - love, Marie from Belgium
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marie! I hope you're enjoying spring as well!

ReplyDeleteOne of the cat hid during the whole time, but Shadow was very patient and let the little boy pet him all the time without ever showing a claw!
DeleteOh Magali, hope your feeling better. I did the same thing last summer and my hip still hurts. I got crazy with the hoe. Try hot and cold for the pain.
ReplyDeleteLove all your bunnies and dishes - they are beautiful.
Feel better soon.
Mary
ReplyDeleteA couple things, you are so mysterious :), I want your tea pot, I want my girls to watch Peter Rabbit in French, and babies are such rascals!! Sorry you're not feeling well.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely time for you to take it easy for a bit, your body is telling you so! For someone who doesn't decorate for Easter you sure do have an awful lot of cute bunnies around!

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't even have thought aout it, hadn't this little toddler visited Cottage!
DeleteYou have a wonderful collection of Beatrix Potter pretties, Magali. I have the exact same series of stories, and a beautiful teapot that my daughter gave me for Easter a couple of years ago. I'll have a look at the video, too, since I know it will make this grey and chilly day very cozy.
ReplyDeletePoppy:)
I love Peter Rabbit.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope your back is all healed.
Love all the Peter Rabbit stuff - did your visitor enjoy it in English or French? Hope your back's better! PS Fascinating election...what times we live in!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry you have hurt your back and side. I understand that kind of pain - I've experienced quite a few times in my life. It's awful. I hope you are practicing a lot of self-care right now. I love all your bunny decorations. What a darling little boy you had visiting!
ReplyDeleteI adore Peter Rabbit and love your china. Makes every meal into a party. As I'm a bit behind with my blog reading I hope that you're feeling better by now.

I love Peter Rabbit. When I was young, I read them all, and when my daughter was young we read them together.
ReplyDeleteI love your little statues of see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil. You are the best hostess. xoox Su
Magali, I'm a huge fan of Beatrix Potter, so your collection has me envying you (in the nicest sense of the word!). What a cozy cottage! I hope your pain subsides soon.
ReplyDeleteThe collection is built piece by piece when my mom or I find one in an empty-your-attic sale.
DeleteWhat a gorgeous collection of things related to Beatrix Potter. My kids grew with those books in their hands and we still have them and love them all. I save them for a possible grandchild someday. Love those plates and mugs, just beautiful! Happy week with Peter Rabbit and friends. I bet your young visitor had fun!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're in pain. I hope it passes quickly. Whose baby was that? Isn't it amazing how much trouble little kids can get into?
ReplyDeleteI hope by now you're feeling better, Magali. You've got a very impressive bunny collection!
ReplyDeleteI'm just now reading this post so I do hope you're feeling better. I didn't know there were Beatriz Potter Peter Rabbit plate settings. Or if I did I've forgotten. Too sweet.
