A Little White House Christmas - 5 -
So, this weekend, I was supposed to go pick the Christmas tree and to decorate it... One gas leak later, one completely rebooted computer later, one new Internet system to install later and one very sick cat later, there's no tree at the cottage.
I did decorate, in my very simple way, the kitchen window.
So, as you can see, the kitchen is not done... I'm working on the project and if you see that countertop above that goes right in front of the window... This is one of the thing I'm working on, so it won't be as ugly later (hopefully)!
The decoration is very simple, because I wanted to keep my white and black dishes I usually have here. I added a white lantern that you may or may not recognise, a few white glass baubles and some evergreen with a few silverware pieces for a touch of glam.
I can't resist showing off my brand new-to-me vintage French tureen that happen to have some toile pattern I adore... and you wouldn't belive how much I payed for it! In small cottages, things must be both pretty and useful, so the tureen holds my cookie cutters.
But, clearly, the decor is only magical, when the night comes, which is pretty early in Brittany at that time of the year.
If you see an orange square on top of that picture, it's not a problem with the new camera as I thought at first. It's my neighbour who just turned on the light of her bedroom at that moment!!!
The good thing with this post is that you finally got to see my new kitchen chair, since it's in front of the window...
How many of you scrolled back up just to realise I had removed the chair? Now, it's not because I'm evil of course, it was just so you could see the display better...
Ok, just so you don't all unsuscribe, here's a sneak peek...
If I don't reply to your comments as soon as I want to in the next few days it could be because a) I'm calling and/or visiting the vet - b) I'm calling the plumber - c) I'm calling the technician for my computer - c) I'm calling my Internet service... But I love you!

See you soon,
A bientôt,
I'm sharing my "Wonderful Time Of The Year" with:
Oh my gosh! I hope the expenses stay low, and issues resolve on their own!
ReplyDeleteThe black and white toile tureen is beautiful, and I love what you did with the window sill.
Ha ha... on the chair! I didn't see it there, and so I was surprised that I missed it, and then realized you tricked us! The spindles are pretty.
ReplyDeleteOh no, not another gas leak! On a plus side, your decorations look lovely! Good luck with sorting everything!
ReplyDeleteI had a plumber check the whole gas system (which is brand new) this morning, just to be on the safe side!
DeleteSo sorry that you are having so many problems - I guess the old saying "When rains it pours" is true. So sorry about your sick kitty, hope she is better soon.
ReplyDeleteYour window sill is very pretty and I love the tureen.
Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas.
Mary
DeleteYikes bikes, hopefully all the woes will be sorted in time for a well earned relaxing Christmas!
ReplyDeleteOh, I adore your tureen. So sorry for all the problems that have happened.
ReplyDeleteOh no, don't you just love the timing of these things!!! Crazy. I hope it all settles down for you Magali. Your window is looking lovely.
ReplyDeleteAll will be well....
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas spirit has more to do with the special and unique decorations than with the Xmas tree - so the window sill is precious, indeed! I love every single item, especially the cookie cutters in the bowl and the juniper branches next to the silver spoons! I hope your cat is better, now...meow!
ReplyDeleteIt's so frustrating when daily life gets in the way when you want to be playing instead! Hopefully you'll find the time for the tree soon. Your kitchen window display is looking oh so pretty. I love how the dishes sparkle in the sunlight and all the fun holiday items added makes it the perfect display.
ReplyDeleteI'm replanning the tree decorating for tomorrow... Life will tell! Thanks for visiting.
DeleteEverything is looking so wonderful Magali! Just magical !!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the window! Everything is just beautiful. Did your little lantern come from Ikea? I just bought one like it a few days ago...:) I love your simple and elegant style...so pretty! Have a lovely week...Blessings, Vicky
ReplyDeleteYou created simple elegance in your kitchen window. I adore your style and would go so far as to say I connect with it :) I'm sorry for your string of mishaps. In December we rush so to get everything accomplished and there's just no time for setbacks.
ReplyDeleteHappy Day!
Thank you so much, Your sweet comment is so nice to read after the long day I had. And maybe the little bumps in the road are just there to remind me having everything perfectly in order for Christmas is not what's the most important!
Babette
Oh my goodness, you do seem to keep having bad luck, I do hope your cat is ok and that everything else is being sorted out. Your sill looks very pretty, especially now with the wonderful new window and café curtain, and the chair looks like the perfect addition !
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas decor is very pretty. I hope your cat is okay!!! She is always a delight to see in your pictures!
ReplyDeleteMagali, I am in love with your kitchen window. The cafe curtains are perfect, and the splendor of all your white at night is "MAGIC."
ReplyDeleteSorry I forgot to add it to my post earlier, but you are the lovely guest to receive the extra (actually two) Narnia tags. Woo-hoo!! Hope that lightens up your plumbing and technical troubles. =D
Thank you so much for playing along and for your perfect description of friendship.

ReplyDeleteToo funny, because I did scroll back up to look for the chair. Even though I was keeping an eye out for it while reading because I was hoping it had made it in the shot.

Coquine.
