Adding Warm Wood Tones To A White Kitchen - 1
I'm known to be very talkative and to always use too many words, but today, I can't find anything else than:
I received so many uplifting comments after my last post. I could truly see how much you wanted to show me your support, because your comments were longer than usual and some people who never commented before did. I really appreciate the time you took for me. I began the week feeling I was walking higher than the ground!
So, many songs came to my mind as I was writing this, "Walking In The Air" and "You Lift Me Up", for example. But I have "Count Your Blessings" playing in the car every morning lately and, believe me, I'm counting YOU as one of mine! This is the exact version I have playing in the car... I thought it is also fitting for all my American readers who are celebrating Thanksgiving.
I'm not sure we can count Pinterest in our blessings... That sounds a little material... But wouldn't you like some nice inspiration?

When I was pinning images to find inspiration for my kitchen before it was remodelled, I noticed that many of the kitchens I liked I had some wood tones in them, but were rarely all wood.
3. |
4. |
I know the "official" look everyone was going for was painted cabinets and a wood countertop, but since I had decided not to go for a wood countertop, maybe I could find other ways to add warm wood tones to my kitchen?
5. |
6. |
I loved the idea of a wooden cabinet or wooden shelves: it gave a collected look to the kitchen I was pinning.
7. |

But could I afford to buy one more brand new thing for that kitchen while the bathroom skylight is broken and can't open? NOOOO! And what if I had already nearly everything I needed?
Again, a huge thank you to my usual readers, this time to act as if they had seen nothing with wood in the last pictures of the kitchen... I couldn't really remove everything before I took pictures: I did remove the dirty dishes, though ;) I know you'll be nice enough to act all surprised in my next posts...
As the weather is definitely getting cold, I'll show you my warm wood tones in the next post!
See you soon,
A bientôt,
PS1: I had only one eye opened while writing this post, the other one is already sleeping, so I apologize for any English mistake I may have made, but I wanted to publish today to wish a nice and yummy Thanksgiving to my American readers.
PS2: I'm too tired, I can't remember what I really needed to tell you in my second PS!
Update, a few hours later... Of course, you can find the source for my inspiration pictures on my Pinterest boards! - That was the second PS!
Update, a few hours later... Of course, you can find the source for my inspiration pictures on my Pinterest boards! - That was the second PS!
PS2: Zut! Attendez, ça va peut-être me revenir!
Quelques heures plus tard... ça y est! Je me rappelle!
PS3: I'm sharing my blessings with:
I like picture no. 1 &7, so neat. Until now, I haven't make over my kitchen yet. You give me so many inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you could find some inspiration on the blog!
DeleteWhat a sweet post. Nighty-night!

Thank you so much! Maybe you'll also need a good night rest after Thanksgiving!
DeleteAren't you a sweet heart! I think I speak for many when I say we are only too happy to show support and of course give our opinions! We ARE am opinionated lot you know ;).
ReplyDeleteI think I'm right with you about the wood tones. It really looks lovely in a kitchen, especially a cottage one. My kitchen has wood cabinets, wood walls, wood ceiling...everything! Maybe you can come over and take some? lol
Being part of the "can I offer you my opinion" bloggers I know we love to help, anyway we can! I love wood tones, it's richness and charm can't not be achieved in all white kitchens. If you stop by Doreen's (above) you'll love her warm spaces. My kitchen has a medium to dark cabinets, cherry wood with mahogany stain..and love it. But if I had to do over again I'd do the bottom cabinets dark and the top lighter. I love your cottagey kitchen/home.
ReplyDeleteOnce I paint our kitchen a light color I'm planning to add some wood tones back into the room. I love all your inspiration photos!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I worked for a few weeks making over our kitchen, it's now all white and I love the paecefulness it lends.
ReplyDeleteI love all your inspiration photos, I could move into any of these kitchens.
See you soon, my kitchen is on my latest post.
happy ThanksGivings.

Thank you so much for the sweet Thanksgiving wishes. I love your kitchen and just read your last post. I could feel your disappointment over the cabinets, but let's face it, in the real world very few of us live in "perfect" homes. A home is just that. Our home. It is our place. The place where we live and feel safe and comfortable. That is what makes it perfect. From everything I can see you have achieved that and more. Have a wonderful day, my sweet friend. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteThany you so much, Laura! There are many imperfection in my home, but, maybe because I was tired lately, this one bugged me a lot more!
DeleteI love the white of your kitchen and I am glad you didn't go with wooden counters...and yet a little bit of wood would be pretty, say with a few wooden chopping boards, a stack of wooden bowls, and maybe a small counter lamp, with a round globelike base with crisp white shade. I know you'll come up with just the right thing. Thanks to you on our Thanksgiving Day. I'm thankful for the happy mood your posts leave me with. Blessings!!
ReplyDeleteI have a small counter lamp made of a wooden coffee grinder and that was actually the first touch of wood I added... But I have something more... I need a sunny day to take pictures! Thank you for your sweet comment!
Bises . Babette
Stole a peek, but can't wait for the big reveal! Patty/NS
ReplyDeleteMagali, now you have me walking around my kitchen trying to find a way to add some wood!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be amazing, can't wait. Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving, too. I'll eat enough
turkey and pie for you, too!
Hugs,
Patti
DeleteI love all your inspiration photos, Magali, and I think I actually have quite a few of them on my Pinterest board, too. :) I'm looking forward to your next post. Thanks for thinking of your American friends with the nice Thanksgiving greeting. We had a very nice dinner at our friends' home, then worked all afternoon setting up our art booth for the Holiday Bazaar, which starts tomorrow. Have a great weekend! xxx ~ Nancy
ReplyDeleteEvery room should have some wood. It makes everything cozier.
ReplyDeleteMagali, you know how I feel about your kitchen, "French cottage perfection!" I don't think you need to add a thing but certainly if you want a little wood go for a dough bowl or cheese board. Useful and pretty. Love the header too.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful and happy weekend...............
Hi Magali!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry I haven't been around!!! We have a new puppy in the house since April and I can tell you it's like having a new born baby again. He's small at 6lbs and he may reach 10lbs, which I like. He's very active and keeps me going!!!
I'll have to go back and read your post before this one. I hope you're feeling better and happier now. You are a very special and beautiful woman who inspires me to do better!!! I do love reading your blog and seeing you transform you home and special place you take us on!!!
Thank you!!!

I love the warm look that wood brings to a kitchen. Thanks for sharing all these inspiring ideas!
ReplyDeleteI do like a little warm wooden accents in a kitchen - I have one wooden wall at the end of mine. Thank you for the blessings!
ReplyDeleteDear Magali, you have had such patience with this remodel. Your kitchen is beautiful!!! I am so sorry about the white paint tones not matching, that is SO disappointing after such a long wait. If it were me, I would make them even more of a focal point by painting them a light aqua and putting ornate vintage style handles or glass knobs on them. (And yes, I too count Pinterest as one of my blessings!) A bientot!
ReplyDeleteI'd love a butcher block counter top. My island is oddly shaped though and it would be a serious custom project. Sigh. Maybe someday.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see it Magali! it is going to be beauitful!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how you add warmth to your kitchen with wood. I love the wood counter tops but I too wouldn't put them in my kitchen. I hope your holiday season is off to a great start.
