The Kitchen Window Series (it's a soap opera, really) - part 8
I promise, this is the last part, for now, at least!
Back when the kitchen window looked like that
I never really "thought" about it as part of the cottage. It was only a way to have light in the room.
Now that the window has been changed, that I made some cute curtains, that I found the perfect handle and that I tried my hand at DIY moulding, I'm crazy in love with my window.
I think my cats are even jealous.
I chose to display some of my favourite black and white china on the window sill. And it seems I keep adding to the collection every Sunday (the day we have "empty-your-attic" sales in France).
So every now and then, I began having tea next to that window,
Notice that adorable teapot I just found for 2 euros? |
That's when I had my genius idea! (Remember I'm blonde before getting all excited.) What if I added a chair next to the window?
For now, I put an old chair that was in my very first apartment. I like the country look, but it's definitely not more comfortable than standing against the sink. So of course, I'm looking for an other chair... Which will probably make a great series later!
Do you have any idea on what chair would be perfect for my cottage kitchen?
See you soon,
A bientôt,
Is there room for a rocking chair?
ReplyDeleteI love your blonde moment! I am also in love with your window and beautiful china. Have a lovely day Magali, Ann
ReplyDeleteMaybe a comfy rattan/basket chair with a nice cushion?
ReplyDeleteNot surorised you are in love with your window, it is a focus of your kitchen now.
I'm still admiring the panelling, it just fits so well with your window !
ReplyDeleteI love the chair, but I guess if it's not comfy, you need one you can lean back into, like a Lloyd Loom or a bistro chair !?!
i bet your cats would love to sit on that windowsill in the sun.

Ficou lindo! Bj, Manuela
ReplyDeleteMuito obrigado!
DeleteVery pretty Magali!
ReplyDeleteBut I'm with Carol on this one- a rustic rocking chair would be perfect for there -
XOXO
What a difference! It looks amazing now. What about keeping your chair and adding a cushion to the seat? I think that chair is so cute!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so amazing the difference in the window from the before and after. It's so perfectly "cottage like".
ReplyDeleteAs for the chair, I really dig that one. It looks perfect. I'm with Anne above, maybe a cushion would help.
My vote:
ReplyDeleteNo rocking chair - the chair your have is fine with a tiny, tiny table - even a 12" square one or a flat back very narrow table that would but up against the wall.
I'm enjoying the window soap opera…I think it turned out great, and love the touches of china on the sill. Your chair looks great - maybe make it more comfy with a cushion?
ReplyDeleteI'll find an other chair where I can sit without danger (this one is actually in pretty bad shape), but I'll add a cushion for sure.

I love your window! It looks sooo much better than before, you've definitely achieved a more cottagey look! I particularly like the little windows at the bottom of the window and the way that the curtains that you've chosen don't go all the way down to the bottom. It's really unusual and looks great!

Thanks a lot! Have you noticed your previous owners and the previous owners of my cottage might be brothers when you see our before kitchens?
DeleteI really love what your ideas of putting your cottage together. The lower part of the window is my favourite with the selection of china, etc...and the moldings that you applied are so perfect.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! Your comment is very encouraging and I need that: there's still so much work to do in the cottage!
DeleteIf your beautiful window was in my house I would have the perfect chair to go there. It is a little platform rocker called a cricket chair. I'm trying to decide how to reupholster and paint it just now. I can picture it in front of that window. Wish I could show you a picture of it. I love your cottage and your kitchen window and curtains are so perfect.
ReplyDeleteI checked on the Internet how a cricket chair looked like as I'm ashamed to say I had no idea and it's quite close to what I have in mind and what I may have found!
DeleteI really love the chair you have! It looks so pretty there and I could never tire of that gorgeous view. Is there any way you could make it more comfy?
ReplyDeleteLove the window and black and white dishes. Any chair that you put there that is comfortable will be great. What a great place to sit and have tea - the view is lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour cottage is really looking beautiful - enjoy!
Mary
I would go with something small but comfortable...:) I even like the one you placed there in the picture. Your black and white collection is just beautiful! Good luck finding new pieces to add to the collection.

The cats are TOTALLY jealous. And I love that black and white china!!
ReplyDeleteI'm all about the blonde moments...

I like your chair, so simple so country...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour window series is the best! It's is like a mini series and we can't look away!
ReplyDeleteYour additions look just perfect, and you are one clever girl to add the chair!
Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Big hugs,
Patti
How wonderful to sit there sipping tea and look out the window. It must be a calm and relaxing time for you. If you're getting a new chair, make sure you can put your feet up!
ReplyDeleteI love what you've done with the window. Your DIY idea made all the difference. Could you possibly fit a small rocking chair by your window? I'm looking forward to following along in your remodeling of your gorgeous cottage. You're doing a great job. Kathy
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking an interest in the cottage's renovation. I'm looking for the perfect chair and I'll post about it!
DeleteYour window looks great, and your DIY turned out well. Now you will be brave enough to try something else.
ReplyDeleteYour window is beautiful and I love your black and white dishes too. The chair that would be good there? The one you find comfortable of course! I am a new follower and am looking forward to what else you do!

J'espère que tu as trouvé l'assise idéale.
Bises & bon week end . Babette
The window looks fabulous, and the chair fits right in, but of course one must have comfort above all else. I know you will find the perfect chair for the space. I'm partial to rockers, but you will need something diminutive for this particular spot and I'm sure there is a chair just waiting for you to claim it as your own.
ReplyDeleteThe china is lovely Magali, but the one thing I was struck by is the view from the window. It's so...so...European! Guess that's because you're in France, lucky lady ;).
Love your post !! every picture was an inspiration to me as I'm in the process of a kitchen renew and need all the help I can get.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Bernice
What a beautiful spot and LOVE your view. Thanx so much for joining THT!
ReplyDeleteI can tell you're having fun with your beautiful new window. Love the china - the chair looks perfect there! I am delighted that you shared with Home and Garden Thursday,
ReplyDeleteKathy
Your window is gorgeous! I love the little panes along the bottom, and the curtains are so cute. You did an awesome job on the trim too. Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Deborah
ReplyDeleteBon we.
I didn't really see a problem with the old windows but I do like the new ones more. I think the panes and the molding brings a more cottage feel to the room rather than just something to let light in like what you thought of the old ones. Totally understand why you love hanging out by it. Great job!
