The Dining Nook Transformation - episode 14 out of ???
The For-Now Reveal
Before we push that door open, let me tell you that every part of the Cottage you are not seeing on pictures today is covered in boxes or stuff to sort out or stuff for next month's renovation... You can't even imagine the amount of stuff in front of the sideboard to the right of the picture!
And this is what it looks like today.
Et nous voilà aujourd'hui.
The best thing about the day I took the pictures is that it was a very grey day. It might seem weird to think that as everybody else is waiting for sunny days to photograph their houses. But I'm so happy that now this part of the house is bright even on a rainy day.
I did set a little dinner party for you, but basically, I used the only plates that I hadn't wrapped and packed yet! I wanted the blue ones for the reveal, but they have been packed by my mother who kindly came to help me last weekend.
I turned the wall lights on just to show you how it looks like.
The flowers on the table are from my garden, the ones on the shelf from my mom's.
How convenient that the flowers block the view on boxes over boxes you could have from the glass door. If you want to picture what the living-room looks like, imagine the last part of Ikea stores where all you can see are cardboxes.
I still have a few projects for the dining-room, but if you don't mind I'll take a break from those during the upstairs renovation. I have kept a few things in or around Cottage that I haven't shown you, hoping to share them when I won't be able to show anything else, but I'm not sure I'll have actually time to write the posts. I will try to post every week or ten days in June an July, but please be patient!
See you soon,
A bientôt,
PS: I'm linking with the following parties...
The color white does brighten up the nook and the flowers, pretty. Is the table painted white? Between the kitchen and dining nook, your hard work is beautifully shown in the love of your cottage. If and when you can post the next few months, don't worry about the contents. You certainly deserve a break. You've given Mr. Cottage good bones and he is very handsomely dressed (on going). Magali, you have a wonderful blog, Kathleen in Az

You really have transformed Cottage into something beautiful. It must be great to walk into the house at the end of the day and see what you've created, it's such a cozy space. I know you have a long way to go with the upstairs but I'm sure it'll end up as amazing as downstairs and I look forward to your before and after posts.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful! You have worked so hard. Have a lovely weekend. Jo
ReplyDeleteYOU SHOULD GIVE YOURSELF A BIG PAT ON THE BACK FOR A JOB WELL DONE!
ReplyDeleteHoly moly! What a difference, Magali! It's perfect! You have achieved bright and cozy all in the same room. I hope your renovations go smoothly. Looking forward to whenever it is you do post. Enjoy summer!
ReplyDeleteThe transformation is astonishing and inspiring Magali. You must be so proud, albeit a bit tired ;).
Bon week-end.
Nathalie
This is so bright and airy Magali, your hard work and determination have certainly been worth it. Beautiful, just beautiful! xx
ReplyDeleteI just love your dining room, it's so light and fresh looking. Love all the whites. It truly has been a total transformation. Your mam's hydrangeas are beautiful, she came to help and brought flowers, she's great!
ReplyDeleteDear Magali,
ReplyDeleteWith all the work and attention to every detail you have put into your cottage, I am not surprised at all at the beautiful results... It is simply beautiful, and quite Dreamy!
fondly,
Penny
Thank you so much, Penny! I'm so worried something will get damaged downstairs while the upstairs is insulated!
DeleteGorgeous! Cottage has come so far, and I know there is more you want to do. It's a process, and you will have a wonderful home in the end...exactly how you want it! How nice. We will buy a house some day, but we will have two people and at least 5 cats to work around. I'm not sure how we will manage, but if we want it done, we will do it! So happy for you that Cottage is coming along. Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteMagali,
ReplyDeleteBravo well done. You are reloving this cottage so beautifully. Everything is looking great.
Kris
Your home is such a picture, Magali. And I must say that the dinner party looks very inviting! Good luck with all the work you have ahead; I know the outcome will be perfect.

ReplyDeleteHow happy you and Cottage must be. Everything is lovely. Best of luck with the next stage of your renovation.
ReplyDeleteCottage has come a long way and now it is just stunning. Magail, cottage should be patting you on the back and thanking you for the facelift. You've done an amazing job, the dining nook and kitchen looks like a magazine layout. I really love what you've done. Wish I could sit and talk to you about how you did it while sipping tea at the table. I loved this project and look forward to those to come.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Magali, and now it looks like a magazine. (except that it's all packed again!)
ReplyDeleteThat room sure was ugly; ugly like my bathroom was. The funny thing was that my spouse never saw the place I picked out until it was ours, because he trusted my vision. You have a special trait to see what something can become.
xoxo Su
being a home owner, there are always projects to do. But it's also exciting to see the progress and how different the before and after pictures looks like
ReplyDeleteOnce again I admire the size of the project you've taken on. Best of luck with the upstairs - the dining room looks so fresh and bright and inviting. You really are creating something wonderful here.

So very pretty, all along it has been very nice in the progress pics, but this, when it is all fixed up and very personal, it really has very special aura to it, more than just a combination of paint and furniture. Love the wooden furniture, it keeps it from looking too strict. It is very personal but I do not feel "home" if everything is too correct and thought through. Good that you let cottage weigh in on the decisions as well!
ReplyDeleteI love all the renovation you do so well. All the white. The open beams in the ceiling. It's all so fresh and clean looking. I need to paint!
ReplyDeleteWhat a transformation! The entire character of the rooms is changed, for the better I might add. Great vision, great follow through. Jo @ Let's Face the Music

ReplyDeleteMagali, this is awesome! What a humongous transformation...simply gorgeous all in white. I love the chairs in your dining set. The table setting is lovely too, so warm and inviting like the whole room is.
ReplyDeleteFABBY
So impressive how you have transformed the dining nook. I also like the "hats" you created for Cottage. No yearning for those old mirrors on previous dining nook? :>)))
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, Magali! I'm loving the warm honey look of the wood against the white, it's so inviting!
ReplyDeleteFabulous reveal, every room you transform get more fabulous than the last!
Hugs,
Patti
Wow, what a great transformation! Your dining nook really looks light and bright, and the flowers are the perfect finishing touch - plus very clever to use the hydrangea bloom to block the view through the door :-)
ReplyDeleteA happy transformation indeed! I hope your enjoying this lovely space.
ReplyDeleteHappy June and have a wonderful weekend.
Magali, it's light and bright and I love the pine mixed with the white.

It is so pretty and calming. I can see you enjoying tea in there.
ReplyDeleteOh my, it is an absolute beauty! What a transformation Magali. I love the architectural pieces and the little nook windows for displaying some of your fun pieces. Don't worry about those boxes. What we can't see doesn't matter. lol! Take your time and enjoy putting everything in it's place!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Beautiful, just beautiful....I need to go read some of your older posts. I love watching houses transform into homes that reflect the owners distinct interests, tastes and personalities. Very well done!
