One Year Of... Recipes A La Magali
Time to confess the truth... I may have been a little too ambitious when I started the blog. I thought posting a recipe a month would be easy. But with the renovation going on and the fact that I have a job, it turned out to be impossible. I do cook, but I don't have time to take pictures of what I do and when I have, I don't have the time to write the post. I'll try to do better in 2014, but I'm not promising anything.
Bon, il est temps de me confesser et d'avouer mes erreurs. Je pensais sincèrement vous transmettre plus de recettes sur ce petit blog, parce que je cuisine beaucoup. Mais prendre les photos, si possible avec une lumière correcte (alors que je cuisine plutôt en rentrant du boulot), puis écrire les recettes (en bilingue), s'est avéré prendre trop de temps dans le cours normal de l'année. Je tenterai de faire mieux en 2014, mais honnêtement, en dehors des vacances, cela me semble difficile.

I've been reading blogs for a long time and I know it's customary to have a "word" of the year. I'm quite the anti-conformist, as you may have noticed, but I like this idea. I thought about it during the 6 hour long trip from my grandma's to my parents' and the best word for 2014 appeared to be
SAVOUR
Il est de coutume sur les blogs américains (euh, pour ceux qui n'ont pas encore remarqué... Je parle un peu anglais et je lis donc autant de blogs français qu'étrangers), de choisir un mot pour définir notre nouvelle année. Toute anti-conformiste que je suis, j'aime bien cette idée, et après avoir réfléchi pendant les 6 heures de trajet entre chez ma grand-mère et chez mes parents, il m'est apparu que le mot le plus approprié pour cette année était
SAVOURER
I chose it because this year, the project for my cottage is to work on the kitchen and I hope to "savour" the fact that at some point I'll have a real kitchen and I also hope to "savour" everything I'll be cooking in it. But I also intend to "savour" every little thing life has to offer, like walking on the beach (when the storms are over). I also made a promise to my parents to put some weight on, which might seem weird to some of you, but I agree with them, it's compulsory!
J'ai choisi ce mot parce que le projet de l'année au cottage, c'est la cuisine et j'espère pouvoir enfin savourer le fait d'avoir une vraie cuisine et savourer les petits plats que j'y préparerai. Mais j'entends aussi savourer les plaisirs simples de la vie, ceux qu'on oublie parfois dans le stress de la vie quotidienne. Enfin, j'ai promis à mes parents de grossir un peu en 2014: cela peut paraître la résolution inverse de tout le monde, mais, j'avoue, c'est nécessaire!

Juste un petit aperçu de la pièce dans laquelle sont confectionnés tous mes biscuits. Eh oui, on peut presque tout faire dans un mini four!

Savour is a good word. I don't choose special words, I just hope and pray for a better year with good health.

What a wonderful word! It would take me all year to choose a word, because I would start thinking every time that I chose one that I could think of a better one! I do so love words. I do love to eat, also, and only once in my life has anyone told me that I need to gain weight. I hope that your 2014 is a year of enriching experiences - enjoy, my friend across the ocean!

Wonderful word for 2014, Magali. And I really like the way you intend to savour all of life. Perfect! My late husband used to make a chicken pie with puff pastry that looked very much like yours. Oh, it was so delicious. I have to say, though, that your dishware and china distracted me, and I had to go back and look at your recipes a second time. Looking forward to savouring what you'll be sharing in 2014. :)

A very good word! I missed a couple of your recipes, which I have now pinned. The chocolate treats look dangerously good, and I like the sound of the Tea Brack. Tonight would be a good night for that Chicken Pie -- it's so cold here, and it would be the perfect comfort food. I am excited to see how your kitchen progesses!
ReplyDeleteYour recipes/food look great, but I couldn't keep my eyes off your dishes, since I'm a dish girl! Loving you kitchen and awards to you for cooking in that little oven. Hope the new "transform" one will be able to provide you a much bigger oven so you can "savour" cooking once again!

We have a toaster oven too, and we love it! In my opinion it was more handsome than a microwave and used more, so since I didn't have room for both it stayed in the kitchen. The microwave is in the laundry room, because for the occasional defrost or baked potato. Everyone is different and I know it would not work for most.
I'm really looking forward to your kitchen remodel!

Savour - a wonderful word for the year. I can just imagine you tasting all new adventures for 2014. I cannot believe those beautiful creations came from that small oven!

I will give your banana bread a try, my kids and I love banana bread - I will make them a few loafs, tell them a friend from France gave me the recipe....really impress them! Your recipes all look delicious--my husband would enjoy the chicken pie, so I will have to give that a try soon. ReplyDeleteSavour is a great word, sometimes we need to just stand still and savour things. I can never seem to fix on a word, but a friend was talking about 'shed', for shedding stuff, shedding pounds and even because she needed a new shed.
