Virtual Blog Tour

Wandering Around Blogland

A few days ago, I got an email from Su, who blogs at Butterfly 8)(8 Bungalow, one of my favourite blogs, asking me if I wanted to be part of a virtual blog tour. I usually say "no" when I get that kind of offer, not because I don't think it's interesting, but because it's usually linked to dead lines I'm unable to meet. But this time, it seemed doable since the day I was to feature three blogs I liked was July 14th: I'd be in holidays and I'd probably know where I work next year, so my mind would be free. So I said "yes"!

If you don't already know Butterfly 8)(8 Bungalow, you should head straight over there. I began reading Su's blog when she was renovating her kitchen and she had me hooked because she's so talented at using small spaces and making them amazing. I also admire the way she completely transformed her sleeping porch.

Now, there are a few questions I'm to answer as part of the virtual blog tour and I thought they would be a good way to present the blog to the new followers and suscribers. If you're old (sorry, no offense intended - if you're not new), you can skip this part.

1. What am I working on?
I'm renovating an old fisherman's cottage in Brittany, France. That's what the blog is about, anyway. In real life, I have a job!
2014 is the year of the kitchen and the blog is documenting its evolution.

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?
I wish I could say what I do is better than others... It's not... It's very different from other decor blog because it's very slow... I think I'm not selling it right here... I take care of a very old cottage on my own with a full time job and three and a half cats to feed... It's the real life of a French remodelator. But Cottage talks to me and helps me making the right decisions!

3. Why do I write/create what I do?
Why do I create or re-create my Cottage? Because the state the previous owners left it in is ugly! Why do I write about it? Because none of friends care about renovation! But I found amazing people on blogland.

 4. How does your writing/creating process work?
Mostly late at night, with a cup of tea and chocolate to munch on for the writing part... Mostly during the summer and with lots of dust for the renovation part... I may have dried paint all over my fingers as I type.

Now, let me introduce you to three blogs I enjoy reading. I love so many blogs, three seemed such a ridiculous number...

Sarah, from Little Hideaway, is currently renovating an old Cottage in the German moutains. I love how she creates cosy, yet very pure, spaces. Have a look at the kitchen in her Cottage.

Fiona blogs at Just Paint It White and she has the cutest Cottage on the seaside in England. I love that she has one idea a minute to make her space really unique. She recently redid her bathroom and I'm so jealous since my bathroom is still an awful mess of yellow, orange and green. She's also the best at finding amazing furniture... Or making her own when needed!

Anne from Design Dreams is a Canadian serial DIY. Can you believe she does everything by herself? Everything includes adding a window to her laundry room or remodeling her kitchen! We spent part of the winter months sending each others kitchen inspiration pictures and the way she's transforming her kitchen these days is stunning.

If there's one of these bloggers you didn't already know, go visit them... You'll love them, trust me!

See you soon,

A bientôt,

PS1: I have abou ten PSs in my mind, but as it's already a long post I'll keep most of them for the next post!
PS2: Girls, could you add the Google translation gadget to your blogs so my French readers can visit you?
PS3: I have good news for next year. I learnt a day early that I'll be working in two schools I love!
PS4: It might seem like I'm doing nothing on the blog lately, but I'm actually working a lot in the Cottage!

  10. Dear Magali,
thanks for featuring my blog! I visited the other two and liked them so much for being authentical, most impressive and very charming. Great news: You have two good jobs and can go on renovating. Greetings to Cottage, it must be so relieved...
I have a question concerning the blogtour: Those are supposed to be blogs in English or perhaps it is sufficient, if they have the google translator?
    Have a nice day!
    Yours Sarah
