October Is Over

What happened in October at Cottage

October was the month when summer and winter became really close friends. For most of the month, we were still wearing T-shirts and sandals, then all of a sudden the cold arrived  and I had to lit the stove.

The change in the weather meant that I had to harvest so the fruits of my garden labor wouldn't be wasted if it got too cold during the nights. It very rarely freezes on the Brittany coast, but better save than sorry.

October was a month when I worked a lot, helped by Shadow who tought my desk was the best place to rest. I worked on my lessons for my pupils and on a file for the inspector. The first part of the inspection was in the middle of the month and it went ok, but not as well as I had hoped. The inspector tought I worked too much. It left me a little unsettled as this is not the kind of thing you expect as a negative remark...

As the last week of October was Autumn Break for French schools, I did what I always do when I'm pissed : I painted. It really takes my mind off things and as a bonus, Cottage gets improved... Cottage is proud to tell you that all the walls in the living-room are finally painted and that he hopes to show off in post in the near future.

After my last post, the comments were all wondering two things. How could my swollen toes fit into any shoe? And where did I get my door handles ?

For the first question, I'm going to answer right now as I wouldn't want the worry to make you sleepless. I have very small feet. It's usually not funny at all because it makes finding shoes very difficult (I can see my father rolling his eyes from here as he reads this sentence - I still managed to have lots of shoes). But right now, my shoe size is quite a blessing: most of my shoes are slightly too big and I can fit in my canvas tennis shoes without pain... I'm not yet ready for my usual ballerina flats, though.

Now that I think of it, my shoe addiction probably deserves a post on its own..

For the second question... the answer comes with a whole story... So that's for sure deserves a post of its own... You'll ave to wait. I hope this won't prevent you to sleep ;)

See you next time,

A la prochaine fois,

Hasta la prxima,

  1. glad you have shoes to fit the feet - mine are the opposite and rather long and skinny!! How can one work too hard to get ready for teaching children!

    Belle semaines

  6. Love seeing your little assistant Shadow helping you with your lesson plans. What a weird remark to hear from the inspector. I would think that you work hard or more would be a positive. Glad you could find shoes to wear while your toes heal. Have a great start to the new week.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  7. Over here we seem to have lost fall and spring, like you I went from t shirts to sweatshirts I believe in the same week, and that wasn't that long ago, it would be nice to have at least a week with temps in the 70's again. Now it's the rain that's settled in, my yard looks like a pond, and my pond looks like a lake...sigh...I'm already wishing spring was just starting, even if it comes with temps in 80's. Hope you have a nice week, and you don't work too hard =^)

  12. Painting is productive to keep your mind off your review and I'm perplexed too. Your harvest bounty looks delicious and cozy up in your livingroom in these cool Autumnal days.

    1. I'm again on the sofa - resting my foot - next to the stove - it was a windy day today - with a cat on my lap and a cat in the wicker basket.
