Not A Hilton, Paris

Watching TV With Magali (And Possibly Some Cats)

You may have noticed from my "Watching TV with Magali" posts that I don't watch much French TV... I'm not judging, it's just that usually I like American TV shows more. There are some exceptions to this rule, of course. I'm a fan of a French crime TV show called Profilage.

This shows has eight seasons so far and I ordered seasons 1 to 7 to watch during the long evenings we have at this time of year. As I was very reasonable and watch only one episode each evening (I do hope you're believing me there), I thought that maybe you'd like me to share a French set for a change.

Today, I'm showing you Chloe's apartment. She is a "profiler" for the police and she's known, apart from her intelligence, for her bright tights, her colourful and short dresses, colourful and short coats, colourful and high-heeled shoes and her yellow hand-bag. But at home, she usually wears a simple T-shirt and jeans.

She lives in Paris in a former bookstore turned into an apartment. Downstairs is composed of a small entryway and a one big room with the lounge area, dining area and kitchen all in one.

Her living-room has pale yellow walls and a huge brown leather chesterfield sofa on which she often falls asleep when working late on a case. She has two industrial-looking bookshelves, filled with psychology and criminology books. You may notice that books actually come out of the shelves frequently and can be found on the coffee table, the sofa or the floor. That last point reminds me of somewhere...

She has small cafe curtains for privacy.

The dining area has orange walls (I've already mentionned I'm not a big fan of orange, right?), a vintage bucher's sign and a tin ceiling. This area is under the bedroom we'll see later. Chloe is not a good cook and each time she tries to cook or bake it ends up badly, but she has a kitchen, with grey cabinets and an empty fridge.

You may have noticed that Chloe's home isn't very girly, but have a look behind the mess she made shile trying to bake cookies. She does own a very pretty teapot: it's on the countertop.

Since the fridge is empty, let's go upstairs, shall we? You'll need to go up the metal stairs to reach the mezzanine where are located the bedroom and the bathroom. Please ignore Chloe waxing her legs (it's a great scene by the way as she tries to phone at the same time with her fingers sticky from wax). Did you notice that her yellow hand bag is on the coffee table?

The bedroom overlooks the living room through beautiful windows. Behind curtains, Chloé has a big closet where she stors all her famous short patterned dresses. There's also  mirror there so she can check how perfectly unmatching are her tights and her dresses.

In the bathroom, the sink is deliciously vintage. The mirror changes after season 2 as in one episode of season 2, she suddenly has a brilliant idea while removing her make up and she begins writing her theory on the mirror.

The show has been exported with the title Profiling Paris. You should really watch it if you haven't already.  There are beautiful views of Paris and its suburbs, which sometimes makes me nostalgic of the time I lived in Paris. There are numerous French houses to admire every time the team visits a suspect.

Chloé moves to a house in the suburbs in a later season I haven't rewatched yet. If I can make enough screencaps of it, it could be a future post. And my favourite character only appears in season 4... and she lives on a barge!

See you next time,

A la prochaine fois,

Hasta la proxima,

PS1: You can listen to one of the song associated with Chloé while reading the other PSs...

PS2: I couldn't find any screencaps for this show on the Internet, so I did them myself using seasons 1 & 2. I  have no idea why there's a white part under each of them, but it was time consuming enough so I didn't edit them.

PS3: If I love the set of Chloe's home, it's absolutely not an inspiration for Cottage (orange walls??? enough said). I think it speaks for the show that I watch it even if none of the sets are an inspiration for my own home!

PS4: I'm sharing this post with:

    1. That's my favourite thing about this home, the fact that it used to be a library.

Bises. Babette
